My Quarantine Morning Routine

Working from home has taken on a whole new meaning in the last few months and so has my definition of productivity. It has been extremely difficult for me to adjust and get into a consistent routine since the kids have been home from school these past months. Jake loves doing his school lessons with me and playing outdoors and Jagger is a growing baby who still relies heavily on his mama.

In addition to the kids, I’m running my online businesses, creating content for my blog, managing my home and trying to keep myself together. All I can say is, it’s not easy! I know so many moms are dealing with this at the moment and I salute all you amazing women! This ultimate morning routine is the only way I truly feel productive since quarantine/lockdown began, due to the coronavirus.

7am
My Wakeup Call

I love, love, love my bed. I love sleeping and as a mom of two boys, getting sleeping is a luxury for me. Since quarantine, I’m not waking up at the crack of dawn to squeeze everything in before I drop Jake off to school. That was until I realised that I was starting to loose the day sleeping in and productivity was quickly plummeting. So I found a balance of getting enough sleep and waking up early enough to not loose the day. I’ve been following a strict 7am wakeup call and the best tip I can give to you – is not picking your phone first thing in the morning. You’ll save so much time and get through your morning routine without distractions! It’s not easy to overcome if you’re attached to your phone, but setting yourself a new productive routine, not dictated by my phone, will change your life! Now it’s time for skincare!

Get Ready to Workout

I usually splash my face with some cold water to wake me up, apply my SPF if I’m working out outdoors, brush my teeth, put my hair in a ponytail, put on my super cute workout gear that motivates me to workout out and head down to the gym or tennis court to get started on my run or workout. Sometimes, I really have to convince myself to workout but I never regret doing it and always feel great and energized after doing it and ready to take on anything!

My Morning Skincare Routine

My morning skincare routine is way more simple than my nighttime skin care routine. I love taking a few minutes in the morning alone to give myself a mini pamper session. Waking up early allows me to do that with. no interruptions (no kids, no hubby). I usually do a light cleanse with a washcloth or face sponge. If my skin is a bit flaky and needs some exfoliating, I will use a gentle exfoliator made for daytime use. I’d then apply a toner, moisturizer and SPF if I know I’ll be exposed to the sun that day. I proceed with my 7-10 minute everyday makeup routine, if I have meetings or know I’m leaving the house during the day I want to feel put together. After I’ve finished getting ready for the day, I head downstairs for breakfast with the kids and get started with my day!

9 am
Time For Work!

Since quarantine started, I’ve been creating a detailed weekly schedule of what I need to get done for work and for my household. This has really kept me on track and made me feel like I’m accomplishing my goals whilst still spending time with the kids. I’ve found myself getting more of my to do list ticked off in the first part of my day, than I ever did answering emails in between workout out and getting ready. Working from home might look very different than it used to for most of us, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have the strength to curate the perfect productive morning routine and accomplish your daily goals!

I’d love to know below if you’ve been altering your routine because of feeling stressed or wanting to get more done? I know so many of you have messaged telling me how quarantine has changed your routine.
